Why did you earn your APR?
The Las Vegas Chapter of the PRSA has embraced my contributions to the local market and encouraged me to seek Accreditation in PR. I come from a print, TV, and multimedia journalism background (Associated Press, Bloomberg, The New York Post, CNN, FOX), so earning my APR was an opportunity to learn more about the “science” of PR. That knowledge has supercharged my PR campaigns, strategies, tactics, and results!
What do you consider to be the benefits of earning your APR?
According to the Universal Accreditation Board, the APR program “aims to improve the practice of public relations by assessing competence in 60 areas of knowledge, skills, and abilities associated with the profession.” Throughout the process, I enjoyed learning more about the history of PR, communication theory, planning, management science, and ethics.
What would you say the pros and cons are of Las Vegas' Ready to Roll program?
I benefited greatly from the PRSA’s Ready to Roll program, which gave me the tools to prepare for my panel presentation and pass my exam. I’m very grateful to the Members of our local PRSA who dedicate their time helping others pursue the only national post-graduate certification program for public relations professionals.
