Internal communication is vital for a business to ensure employees are informed, engaged, and aligned with organizational goals. How we communicate with employees is a priority at Cox Las Vegas and across our company’s nationwide footprint.
Internal communications reside in our Corporate Communications structure with each Cox market lending support, including our highest leader – the Market Vice President.
All internal and external communicators at Cox have been trained to follow Smart Brevity to ensure our style, format and information is clear, engaging and memorable. (axioshq.com/smart-brevity).
Through Axios, we can also create email messages from leadership that can be deployed to all employees or select employee groups.
Our everyday communications tactics utilize our intranet called Cox One and a companion app, Viva Engage channels (a product of Microsoft that functions like social media for employees), Microsoft Teams channels, building signage, video messaging on monitors in high-traffic areas and targeted screen savers.

Cox also devotes considerable time to employee communications around weather, natural disasters and community-impacting events. Through a platform called Alert Media, communications leaders can send messages via voice, text and email to employees in areas of impact. For example, this platform is used to alert employee in areas affected by Public Safety Power Shutoff events in California, hurricanes in our Gulf Coast Region, tornados and ice storms in our Central Region, and extreme heat in our Nevada and Arizona markets. The platform allows us to reach out quickly to employees to ensure their safety and follow-up directly with employees who do not respond and those who need assistance.
Our internal communications efforts are influenced by feedback from an annual, company-wide Voice of the Employee survey. Results of this survey help identify areas for improvement and new opportunities. Surveys are also deployed following large employee meetings and events.
