We’re proud to spotlight Andryanna Sheppard, one of PRSA Las Vegas Valley Chapter’s newest members.
Andryanna is Public Information Officer (PIO) with the Clark County District Attorney’s Office, where she serves as primary spokesperson and media liaison, managing public messaging, press releases, and community engagement. She made the switch to public relations with the Clark County District Attorney’s Office in November after working as a TV reporter for about eight years, most recently as an investigative reporter with Gray Media/FOX5 Vegas. Previous roles include consumer investigative reporter and video journalist/reporter at WINK News and reporter/anchor/producer at KDRV-TV | KDKF-TV in Medford, Ore.
Andryanna tells us that as she was closing the chapter of her investigative journalism career, she began attending our PRSA Las Vegas Valley Chapter mixers -- which led her to connect with our members. She said that once she made the switch from reporter to PIO, she joined our chapter to further learn from the local communications community and grow in this new career.
Andryanna shares that her background in TV prepared her for her career in PR. “Working in TV news gave me a strong foundation in storytelling and understanding what makes a message resonate with the audience,” she said. “I spent years turning complex information into clear, compelling stories for communities. I also know how reporters think and what they need, which has greatly helped the media relations side of being a PIO.”
And what about the transition from media to PR? “It has been fantastic!” she said. “I have only been in this role for a little over two months, but it has been so rewarding. It is more comparable to long-form investigative reporting instead of daily turns in that I don't have multiple daily deadlines. I'm working on a long project that I slowly chip away at daily. When looking for my new role, I wanted to use my storytelling skills to help people and the community in whatever capacity that might be. Public sector communications have still allowed me to do that while also informing and protecting the community.”
Andryanna relays that her goals as a PRSA member are to keep learning, sharpen her communications skills, and build relationships with other communications professionals in the Las Vegas Valley, and she looks forward to conferences, panels and courses.
“I'm so grateful to be a part of PRSA Las Vegas Valley,” she said. “I look forward to learning and growing alongside so many talented and accomplished PR professionals.”
Please join us in congratulating Andryanna on her new role and welcoming her to PRSA!
