Two Public Relations Professionals Achieve Specialized Certification

Accelerated “APR Ready to Roll” Program for Public Relations Professionals
Now Accepting Applications for Fall 2021 Cohort
(August 2, 2021 – Las Vegas, NV) – Two area public relations (PR) professionals recently earned their Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) certification.
Courtney Carr, APR, marketing manager at Shank Marketing in Las Vegas, and Melynda Thorpe, APR, executive director of community & professional development at Southern Utah University, recently earned this prestigious distinction, which is the only nationally recognized accreditation for public relations professionals.
Earning the APR demonstrates the PR professional’s mastery of today’s strategic communications and commitment to lifelong learning and ethical standards. PR professionals undergo a rigorous application, portfolio interview and professional certification testing to earn this designation. Following successful testing, APR professionals must then achieve maintenance and recertification through leadership positions, mentoring opportunities, continuing education, publishing and public speaking opportunities and pro bono public relations activities.
The Public Relations Society of America of Las Vegas (PRSA LV) chapter is kicking off its Fall 2021 “APR Ready to Roll” program Tuesday, Aug. 3 at 6 p.m. PST with a virtual meeting to share more about the APR and accelerated program tailored to local PR professionals.
Additional key dates include:
Aug. 10 or sooner – APR applications due to Dan McFadden ([email protected]) and /payments due to PRSA
Aug. 21 – St George – Ready to Roll and Portfolio Review – location to be finalized
Aug. 27 – Panel Questionnaires due to Dan McFadden
Sept. 11 and/if needed Sept 18 – in-person Panel Presentations
Sept. 21 – Nov. 2, 2021 – virtual study sessions, 6 p.m. PST.
