The December PRSA luncheon will be a reflection of the past and celebration of the future as we recognize Roger Buehrer, APR, Fellow, PRSA, on his upcoming retirement and also recognize the past presidents of the Las Vegas Valley Chapter.

Roger, who has been an active PRSA member since 1976, served as chapter president in 1985, 1986 and 1988 and helped keep our chapter afloat during its earliest years.  He remains a tireless advocate of the public relations profession.  He helped establish the Certificate of Public Relations Program through UNLV Continuing Education, having written many of the course descriptions.  He continues to teach the program’s Principles, Ethics and Capstone classes.   

He was the Las Vegas Valley Chapter’s first recipient of the prestigious PRSA Fellow distinction and is the namesake of the “Roger Buehrer Lifetime Achievement Award” which is presented at the board’s discretion to a senior practitioner who exemplifies PRSA’s professional ideals and has contributed greatly to the practice of public relations in our community. Roger also served on PRSA’s National Board of Ethics and Professional Standards and was part of the team that rewrote PRSA’s current Code of Ethics.

The outgoing chapter officers will be acknowledged and installation of new officers for 2012 will take place at the luncheon.
