Join us as panelists from journalism, agency, and legal professions discuss how social media has affected their work (positively and negatively), and hear their answers to emerging questions and concerns as the social media world continues to expand.
PANELISTS:
J. Patrick Coolican, Columnist, Las Vegas Sun
Patrick Coolican was born in Connecticut to a large, Irish Catholic family and then studied dead white male authors at the University of Notre Dame. He started his career during the 2000 presidential campaign, writing for a Web site he created with two friends. He's written for The Seattle Times, The Nation, LA Weekly and, since early 2006, for the Las Vegas Sun.
Kassi Belz, Vice President of Corporate Communications, MassMedia
Kassi Belz oversees multiple corporate account teams and projects with a focus on strategic communication planning and budgets. Throughout her career, Kassi has had the opportunity to work with a variety of clients in diverse industries including: education, healthcare, non-profit, government, technology, finance, retail/consumer, sports, real estate, law, professional services, utilities, professional organizations and insurance. Kassi graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science in public relations and a minor in sociology. She is active in the Public Relations Society of America and recently received her Accreditation in Public Relations (APR). She is an active member of the community.
Ed Chansky, Shareholder, Greenberg Traurig, LLP - Las Vegas Office
Ed Chansky practices in the areas of intellectual property, advertising, sales promotion, and trade-regulation law, including charitable promotions, cause-related marketing, sweepstakes, contests, gift cards, e-commerce, substantiation of advertising claims, social gaming, social media, and all aspects of unfair or deceptive trade practices in a wide variety of industries. A trusted advisor to many national companies, Ed is a frequent speaker at seminars and conferences on advertising and promotion law topics and has helped shape state legislation affecting sales promotion matters. He also works with clients on a wide range of contract and licensing matters, including agency-client agreements in the advertising, public relations and sales promotion industries, software and website development, and other matters affecting intellectual property, marketing and electronic commerce. Ed received his B.A., summa cum laude, from Yale University and his J.D., cum laude, from Harvard Law School.
